  The 37th European Working Group on Limited Area Modeling (EWGLAM) and 22nd Short Range Numerical Weather Prediction (SRNWP) meetings will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, 5-8 October 2015. • HARP Verification Toolbox

  HARP originally stands for the Hirlam-Aladin R Package for verification (although R package is extensively used in the HARP, the tool package is not limited to the R language and utilities). The main goal of the HARP development is to provide the HIRLAM-ALADIN community with suitable tools for probabilistic and mesoscale forecast verification, the latter with focus on spatial aspects.   HIRLAM-ALADIN rolling plan As decided by the 16th General Assembly in November 2011, a common HIRLAM-ALADIN plan will span the period of the two MoUs of the two consortia, i.e. until 2015.   The ALADIN Project alas witnessed in the past years the too early death of some of its strong supporters and/or key participants. We lost ... Arlette Rigaud on 13 August 2000 Marian Wolek on 9 October 2002 Drazen Glasnovic on 19 Octover 2003 Tomaz Vrhovec on 29 December 2004 Vladimir Ivanovici on 30 March 2005 Dezso Devenyi on 26 November 2009 Jean-François Geleyn on 8 January 2015 Françoise Taillefer on 7 April 2017 ... we will remember them in our thoughts.

  Jean-François Geleyn passed away on 8 January 2015. Jean-François was suffering with his health recently, but the brutal course of events leaves the ALADIN community suddenly orphaned. Jean-François’s impact on the current generation of NWP specialists is unparalleled, both scientifically and on a human level. Jean-François first developed the physics of the ECMWF model in the 1970s. Back in Météo-France Paris, he became head of the NWP team. He proposed the concept of variable (…)
