ALADIN-HIRLAM workshop on code maintenance and data assimilationBudapest, 14-18 November, 2005A very preliminary version of the programme is proposed (please note that not all the presentations are not confirmed yet by the relevant speakers). The first two days will be basically devoted to code and maintenance aspects and then the data assimilation issues will be put on the table (from technical to scientific questions), therefore one could just participate partially to the workshop. A block reservation to a hotel nearby (Hotel Papillon, around 30 euros per night) has been made. More practical details will be at the very beginning of September. For any comments on the draft programme or any question, please contact : Andras Horanyi .Provisional draft programmeMonday, 14th of NovemberRyad El Khatib: General overview on the code architecture Karim Yessad: General overview of the configurations Gabor Radnoti: Spectral transforms Karim Yessad: Eulerian and semi-Lagrangian data flow: direct, TL and AD code, trajectory handling Ryad El Khatib: Coding rules Ryad El Khatib: Source code management: generalities and production of binaries Martin Janousek: Source code management: more details and examples Filip Vana: Horizontal diffusion (SLHD) Gabor Radnoti: Parallel environment Tuesday, 15th of NovemberKarim Yessad: Semi-implicit scheme and PC schmes (LPC-FULL), data flow: direct, TL and AD code Martina Tudor: Physics on the data flow Martin Janousek or Gabor Radnoti: Coupling issues in ALADIN Laszlo Kullmann: Local installation of ALADIN export version (an example) Laszlo Kullmann: Local scripts at HMS for running ALADIN Bent Hansen Sass: The HIRLAM physics: porting to ALADIN Claude Fischer: Phasing, merging (example of HIRLAM physics) Eric Sevault: Description of the OLIVE system Debriefing on the code maintenance issues (plenary discussion) Wednesday, 16th of NovemberClaude Fischer: Code description: variational data assimilation Gerald Desroziers: ARPEGE 4D-VAR multi-incremental (scientific + technical) Sandor Kertesz: ODB Gerald Desroziers: Minimizers for variational data assimilation (M1QN3 vs. CONGRAD) Loik Berre: Computation of background errors for ALADIN, Part I.: Technicalities Roger Randriamampianina: Observation pre-processing: tools Thursday, 17th of NovemberClaude Fischer: 3d-var experimentation in Toulouse Loik Berre: Computation of background errors for ALADIN, Part II.: scientific overview Gergely Boloni: Overview of 3d-var installation in Budapest Roger Randriamampianina: Impact studies with ALADIN Ludovic Auger: Varpack Gergely Boloni: How to run ALADIN 3d-var in Budapest?
