Information on available data in the FASTEX Central Archive Available since :13 MAR 1998 - Last Updated: 9 NOV 98 Time Coverage (YYYYMMDD):between 19970101 and 19970228 Geographic Coverage (decimal degrees): latitude between 20 and 90, longitude between -140 and 40 Number of observations: ~ 570000 (about 10000 messages a day from 1400 surface stations) Quality Control Processing Real time quality control processing as recommended by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), was automatically applied on operational data received at Meteo-France (in Toulouse, France) from the Global Telecommunication System (GTS). These checks provide a quick and consistent test on every observation and offer two different types of flags: a flag on the observation, which qualifies the whole quality of the observation, and a flag on several parameters. In the FCA, they are available on the following parameters: date, latitude, longitude, pressure, air temperature, humidity, wind direction and speed. Real time quality control procedures are explained in the quality control procedures handbook . Data format Data provided in ASCII format, one line for each message (per site and date).
