Modélisation du cycle du carbone

Vers un suivi des sources et des puits naturels continentaux du carbone

Le CNRM a développé la plateforme de modélisation des processus de surface SURFEX, conçue pour être couplée avec des modèles atmosphériques et hydrologiques, pour la recherche ou pour les applications opérationnelles. SURFEX inclut le modèle ISBA-A-gs, qui permet de simuler, sur les surfaces continentales, la photosynthèse, la croissance des plantes, et le stockage de carbone. Le CNRM est impliqué dans les projets de recherche européens GHG-Europe (site web du projet) et GEOLAND2 (site web du projet), afin de développer le suivi des flux de carbone et l’assimilation de données de télédétection satellitaire dans les modèles de surface. Les objectifs des études utilisant ISBA-A-gs sont d’évaluer et d’améliorer le modèle, et de développer l’assimilation de données satellitaires dans le modèle.
