  Missions principales

Les missions de l’équipe s’articulent autour de l’étude du système Terre et principalement de sa modélisation. Les thèmes de recherche identifiés portent sur :
(i) L’étude des processus physiques et biogéochimiques pilotant les flux de masse (eau et carbone) et d’énergie entre les continents, l’atmosphère et les océans ainsi que les émissions de gaz à effet de serre et d’aérosols associées
(ii) L’étude de l’impact de ces processus sur le climat et vice versa
(iii) Les techniques d’atténuation du changement climatique en lien avec la géo-ingénierie via en particulier le management des surfaces continentales
(iiii) L’étude des biais systématiques des modèles de climat liés à l’interaction physique entre les surfaces continentales et l’atmosphère.

Pour ce faire, les principales missions de l’équipe EST sont de modéliser à haut niveau les surfaces continentales (contribution à SURFEX et ISBA-CTRIP) et le système Terre (CNRM-ESM) mais aussi d’étudier les interactions entre les surfaces continentales et l’atmosphère et d’en améliorer la représentation.
