Sixty years of precipitation in S-Iceland have been studied. The observations do not indicate a clear overall trend of precipitation amounts or in the frequency of events of very intense precipitation. However, a comparison between observations away from the mountains and at the foothills of the mountains indicate that the ratio of orographically enhanced precipitation to the background precipitation is higher during warm periods than during cold periods.
