Satellite data assimilation
Specific research is done to improve the use of satellite data over what
is implemented by ECMWF for the IFS, for the benefit of the ARPEGE, ALADIN and AROME
data assimilation systems. Satellite data assimilation is a fast moving area, with lots
of good opportunities from new satellite instrument technologies. The work at GMAP
is stimulated by strong cooperations with CNES, NESDIS, ECMWF, Eumetsat and ESA.
