General Information

  • Description
The land-based upper-air stations involved in the FASTEX enhanced radiosounding program are mostly regular stations of the WMO World Weather. These stations routinely perform soundings at 0000 UTC and 1200 UTC. Their basic contribution to FASTEX consisted of launching special 0600 UTC and 1800 UTC ascents.
The one Irish, three French, and six UK participating stations performed the 0300 UTC, 0900 UTC, 1500 UTC, and 2100 UTC ascents during IOPs.
The FASTEX enhanced radiosounding program was supported by AES (Canada), CNRS/INSU (France), DMI (Denmark), the European Commission, the Icelandic Met. Office, Meteo-France, Met Eireann (Ireland), NCAR/MMM (USA), the UK Met. Office, WMO/COSNA.
