Data set source

  • NCAR ELECTRA ELDORA
  • NOAA P-3 C-Band lower fuselage radar

    In the FASTEX Central Archive:

  • NOAA-P3 Aircraft
    The composited images from the lower fuselage radar are available for each research flight, as gif images. For each flight, all the images are packed in one .tar file.

    In the specialized databases:

  • The NOAA-P3 data are also available at NOAA/NSSL (.gif and .xwud files)


    • Quality Control Processing

  • Data providers validation

    Each set of data is validated by the data providers before sending it to the FASTEX Central Archive

    Reflectivity(dBZ) 0-63dBZ in 2 dBZ steps
    240 x 240 pixels. .gif images.
  • Full fligh leg images: 2 x 2 or 3 x 3 km/pixel
  • Standard images: 1 x 1 km/pixel
