Transfer for the Hu event

All partners agreed about the transfer of money to Hungary to make it possible holding an ALATNET Young Researchers’ Workshop in October 2003 in Hungary. The transfer of money would be after consulting EU. The amount would be for each country:

France 2900 EUR, Belgium 2200 EUR, Czech 1600 EUR, Slovenia 1300 EUR, so all together 8000 EUR transferred to Hungary (for an estimated cost of 8920 EUR).

The transfer will impact on Part B of the contract, implicitly by modification of the final targets for this part.

Split of the last forthcoming advance payment from EU

Since it is not clear what will be the exact amount of money that will be received after the third year, all the partners agreed that the distribution should be by fixed percentage (Fr 39.5 %, Be 24.5 %, Cz 12.2%, Hu 10.2 %, Si 13.6 %) with the condition that two rules specified below would be obeyed:

  1. Each Country should not get more than 85 % of its total,

  2. Each country should get at least the sum of its first 3 years of expenses for Part A and B.

Review - critical situation to sort out

After the review of the manpower status of the first three years, there was clear evidence that is unlikely that all the countries will reach the specified level for Permanent Manpower. A minimum proposal was presented, which seemed quite acceptable for all the Partners. The exact figures will be given after rechecking of the data base.

Planning of the workshop

The proposal of Andras was supported from all Partners.

Remark: nice environment in the forest, nice big park of the hotel, relatively good and fast train access from Budapest

For the 9 ALATNET students, who will finish their stay before the Workshop, Hungary will pay accommodation (full board) and some small per-diem will be distributed on the place, the travel expenses will be reimbursed after the arrival back home.

There will be special proceedings for the workshop and all young researchers should obey the deadline for submission: 6 of October.

Scientific part: Advancement of the PhDs

Gianpaolo will have his PhD defense on 4 of April in Genoa, Cornel is anticipated to have his defense in this year. All the others are still in progress of their work.

Report for the Y3 - Deadlines

Future of the project

There was decision to try to contact HIRLAM and/or COSMO groups to extend the project, still in the training spirit, to another RTA. The idea of a 'STREPS' including cooperation with hydrological branch and/air pollution branch was not very well received (participants felt doubtful about an effective contribution from the other scientific branches).

Date for the last SC meeting in Prague

Date will be specified after all Partners will get the information about holidays in February 2004, but it should be in the second half of the month, on Monday or Friday.
